Forex Term

Long

Buying a pair because you expect it to rise.

Going long means buying a currency pair in the expectation that the base currency will strengthen against the quote currency. If the price rises after you buy, you profit; if it falls, you lose. "Long" is simply the term for a buy position.

Example

Going long EUR/USD is a bet the euro will rise against the dollar.
