Market Maker

A broker that sets its own prices and often takes the other side of your trade.

A market maker is a broker that quotes its own buy and sell prices and frequently takes the opposite side of a client’s trade rather than passing it to the wider market. They offer fixed spreads and simple accounts, but the model can create a conflict of interest, so regulation matters.

Example

A market-maker broker may fill your order in-house instead of routing it to an external liquidity provider.
